Filmmaker Jordyn Rolling Releases Official Promo for Short Film Cleo & Zion

Los Angeles-based actress, writer, and producer Jordyn Rolling has released the official trailer for her directorial debut, Cleo & Zion.

The trailer for Cleo & Zion, a film by Jordyn Rolling, offers the first public look at the 16-minute short drama, which is now gearing up for the festival circuit. The release is accompanied by a striking painted promotional poster that sets the film’s emotional and visual tone, an illustrated image of two women in a convertible, arms raised toward an open sky.

Cleo & Zion centers on two estranged sisters, one self-destructive, one consumed by control, whose road trip to visit their dying mother forces them to confront a shared past shaped by race, abandonment, and the complexity of growing up in the same household yet living entirely different lives. What begins in tension gradually reveals a bond neither sister can escape. As the film’s mission statement puts it, it is a story about how the forces that divide us can also, ultimately, bring us back to each other.

Rolling co-wrote the script with Jeanette Schock and stars in the film as Zion, alongside Schock, Jordan L. Jones, and Tatyana ‘Guchi’ Komaguchi.

The project carries the backing of a high profile production team. Executive producers include actor Lance Gross and media personality Al Roker, alongside Nicole Russell-Wharton.

The film successfully crowdfunded over $8,500 through Seed & Spark, with supporters drawn to its exploration of sisterhood, identity, and family resilience.

Rolling’s path to this moment began as a military kid born and raised in Utah. She went on to play NCAA Division I soccer before earning her master’s degree from New York University in multimedia journalism.

She spent six years in Brooklyn training under noted acting coaches including Anthony Abeson and Susan Batson, and honed her craft at UCB Theatre and Sundance Collab. Now based in Los Angeles, she continues her studies at Lesly Kahn & Co.

She has been a host and producer for NBC (NY Live, E! News), BET, Vice, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, and Spotify, and has appeared on screen in FBI (2024), Sinister Surgeon (2024), Get Rich or Die Trying (2025), and many other projects that can be seen in her reel.

Festival dates are to be confirmed.
