Savannah James & April McDaniel Launch Signed
Entrepreneur Savannah James and creative executive April McDaniel have officially launched Signed, a new holding company bringing together their expanding portfolio of women-focused businesses, media properties, and community platforms under one brand.
Created in partnership with MarcyPen Capital Partners, the private equity and venture capital firm co-founded by Jay-Z, Signed will serve as the parent company for McDaniel’s creative agency Crown+Conquer, the membership community Let It Break, and the duo’s podcast Everybody’s Crazy.
According to the long time friends, Signed was born from the realization that each of their existing ventures shared a common purpose: creating opportunities for women through storytelling, community, and brand building. Rather than operating as separate businesses, the founders saw an opportunity to build a platform capable of launching and supporting additional ventures under a unified vision.
“Once we really homed in on the purpose, it made us realize that we were sitting on something way bigger than we even imagined,” McDaniel said in an interview with Fast Company.
For James, whose entrepreneurial portfolio has steadily expanded beyond philanthropy and consumer investments, the move reflects a deliberate focus on surrounding the business with experienced operators. “I’ve always been a champion of experts,” she told Fast Company. “There’s always somebody that’s smarter. There’s always somebody who’s more efficient.”
The launch also marks an important shift in ownership for the founders. After recently bringing Everybody’s Crazy in-house following the expiration of its partnership with Dear Media, James and McDaniel have emphasized their commitment to maintaining creative control over the platform and the partnerships they pursue.
As a business model, Signed brings together three complementary pillars increasingly sought after by modern consumer brands: a creative agency, a media platform, and a built-in community. The structure positions the company to develop new ventures, partnerships, and experiences while maintaining ownership across its growing ecosystem.
With backing from MarcyPen Capital Partners and leadership spanning brand strategy, media, and creative direction, Signed represents the next chapter for James and McDaniel as they expand from operating individual businesses to building a company designed to launch and scale more women-centric brands.
