Jorja Smith Raps on UK Drill Record ‘Crush,’ & We Think We Love It

Jorja Smith, the British R&B sensation known for her soulful melodies and jazz-infused vocals, has entered new sonic territory with her latest collaboration on AJ Tracey’s track Crush. The record features Smith’s signature smooth delivery, but over a UK drill influenced beat.
These two previously collaborated on a viral cover to Sweet Female Attitude’s Flowers, released in 2019. Now, as their first official collaboration, Crush reunites Jorja and AJ, proving that their musical chemistry is undeniable.
One of the standout elements of Crush is its sample from Brandy’s 2002 song Love Wouldn’t Count Me Out. This nod to early 2000s R&B blends beautifully with the contemporary drill production, bridging generational influences and showcasing both artists’ appreciation for classic sounds.

While Jorja Smith has dabbled in various genres, Crush marks a significant step into the UK drill space. Her previous work often leans into R&B, jazz, and even reggae influences. Though some unofficial remixes of her songs have incorporated drill elements, this is the first time she has officially stepped into the genre alongside a prominent UK rapper.
The track is available on all major streaming platforms.
