Bobbie’s BÉYU: Handcrafted Fashion for the Chic & Eco Conscious
Founded in 2016, BÉYU, pronounced [bay-u], is an ethos of style, sustainability, and empowerment. The brains (and heart) behind it all is 28-year-old fashion designer Bobbie Johnson—an H-town hottie who fiercely advocates for self-love, environmental stewardship, and style.
Bobbie’s journey into the world of fashion began as a hobby in high school, inspired by Tumblr thrift flips. Armed with a sewing machine and a passion for creativity, she transformed thrifted garments into unique pieces of art and started taking custom orders that would serve as proof of concept for a long journey of discovering herself as an artist and launching BÉYU.
As a fashionista, Bobbie’s vision extends beyond mere aesthetics, she designs fashion where style seamlessly intertwines with eco-consciousness allure.
At the heart of BÉYU’s philosophy lies a dedication to sustainability. Every garment is meticulously handcrafted using natural fibers and deadstock materials, minimizing environmental impact while maximizing comfort and breathability. From luxurious linens to sumptuous silks, each textile tells a story of mindful sourcing and craftmanship.
That commitment to sustainability goes beyond materials, it permeates every aspect of the production process. With a made-to-order approach, Bobbie ensures that each piece is crafted with precision and care, eliminating excess inventory and reducing waste.
Flowy and light, Bobbie’s creations come in an array of versatile styles, from graceful maxi dresses to playful mini dresses and co-ords ranging from $80-$200, on average. Bobbie proudly boasts about the many ways her pieces can be worn, showcasing the endless possibilities of timeless fashion that can effortlessly transition from one occasion to the next.
In full transparency, Bobbie has shared glimpses into the obstacles she has endured along the way in building her business, feeling moments of discouragement in slow seasons, a relatable feeling for most entrepreneurs. In a world of fast fashion and fleeting trends, BÉYU represents conscious consumption, inviting women to embrace their individuality and tread lightly on the planet.
